Over spring break my mom and sister came down for several days to hang out with us. On Thursday I took full advantage of 2 extra sets of hands and we worked in the yard prepping it for the garden and new landscaping. Friday we headed to the Bay area for some fun.
First stop, Jelly Belly Factory in Vacaville. I've never been and I thought that we'd all enjoy a free tour of the plant. When we arrived the doors had barely opened. We had to wait for about 10 minutes before our tour began. The boys loved walking around and watching the Jelly Beans move from one location to the next. After the tour we headed down stairs and the boys picked out some souvenirs. As we headed out of the building the line for the next several tours was out the door. We all were so thankful we'd gotten to the factory early enough to beat the crowds. We had only 12 people in our group and we made up almost half.
We were soon in the car and headed for San Jose to the Children's Discovery Museum. This place was great. Everything is hands on. The boys really enjoyed moving from station to station and exploring all the things they had to do. We could have spent an entire day here. Downstairs they had a music room were you could go in and dance or chase the disco lights...which the boys did and then headed over to the bubble area. Messy!!! But they loved it. They had a room of just water, a forest room, circle room, ball area, airplane, fire truck and the largest pin impression wall I've ever seen. Benson and Max really enjoyed that. Upstairs they had art and crafts. Benson got to go into both rooms since he was 4. One room is for 4 and under and the other is for 4 and older. He got to enjoy both rooms. In the 4+ room they taught art appreciation and Benson was able to make an impressionistic print. It was pretty cool looking. Then in the 4 and under room they had a star gallery, dress up and pretend play, sand tables, clay molding and tons of other stuff. Max was playing "tea" in the tree house with a little friend he met. It was really cute.
After we spent several hours at the museum we headed back toward Concord to find the hotel. To our surprise just was we were getting settled in and ready to head for the pool Justin was already off work and headed to Concord. By the time we played at the pool for a bit and then got ready for dinner Justin met us outside and we headed to dinner.
Saturday morning came early. Sleeping with 2 boys who have individual bedrooms of their own at home, sharing one room with everyone is crazy! Not much sleep was had by anyone of us.
Six Flags was so much fun. It took awhile for Benson to warm up to the characters and for Max to warm up to the rides but after a little bit they were having a ball. The day went by so quickly. They boys got to ride most of the rides and we got to see the Shouka show, which is one of their favorites. By 4 we were ready to go and my mom and Tiffany had to start their trek back home since it was 8 hours away and Tiffany still had another 7 hours to drive from there to get to school before her Monday morning class.
We had tons of fun and really enjoyed Mom
and Tif coming to visit.
